At times we were all wondering what Ikea or Quantas had to do with Spain, but he found a link!

It doesn't feel like it was too long ago that we were sitting in a coffee shop randomly throwing ideas here and there. It started almost as a joke (so appropiate), but soon our outrageous ideas began to be shaped into something more realistic...

Last Friday night, our vision became a reality in our very own FUN-raising Comedy Night with the artist Simon Palomares.

Thanks to Simon who so generously shared with us his time and talent, we were able to put together a special comedy night for our audience. The team at SpanishAustralia had tried their best to make the night possible: some Spanish nibbles were offered at the venue as well as a raffle with three amazing prices, but the highlight of the night was indeed the show.

The doors finally opened at 6.45pm but neither us nor the spectators had any idea as to what to except.

Rod Lara started the night with his physical comedy and mime performance. What a way to begin! Not long after, the man himself, Simon Palomares, took on the stage to celebrate Spanish-Australian cultural mix ups with lots of laughter. It was unbelievable to hear him speaking of one thing and then the next; at times we were all wondering what Ikea or Quantas had to do with Spain, but he found a link! He didn't spare anything or anyone and at the end of the night he made sure to have "offended everyone!"

For us at SpanishAustralia, it was wonderful to see Spanish, Latin Americans and people that have no connection with the Spanish culture come together in the one room to share a night of laughter and fun while supporting our magazine and the team's hard work.

Thank you to the people who made this night possible and most especially, thanks to you, our audience. Without your support and encouragement we couldn't have done it. Thank you!
