Its main objective is to provide Australian native English speaking students with the opportunity to teach English in Spain in primary, secondary and language schools (12-16 hours a week). This program is an initiative of the Spanish Department of Education.
At the same time, this program allows Spanish students and teachers of English in Spain the opportunity to study English language in depth and get to know the Australian culture by interacting with Australian native speakers.
The language assistants receive a scholarship to cover accommodation expenses, (about 700 - 1,000 Euros monthly), an orientation course and full medical insurance. Transportation from and to the country of origin will depend on the recipient of the scholarship.
Candidates must be Australian nationals, posses a university degree or be in their final year in college at the end of the current academic year and be native speakers of English.
Students will spend a full academic year, October to June, in Spain. 3 preferred regions in Spain can be selected.
